Announcing Finalists for the 2012 International Documentary Challenge. Overall, 90 teams from around the world participated in the 7th Annual International Documentary Challenge with 73 teams turning their films in on time. Each of these 12 short finalist films were made in just five days and will premiere at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto on May 1 at 7pm. At the premiere, three major awards will be announced (Best Film presented by the Documentary Channel, the POV Award, and the DER Award.) See the full list of finalists after the jump.

	Spin TEAM: Limitless Dreams Films Chicago, IL USA Synopsis: Most people find laundry as a boring routine. Joseph, owner of the Super Coin is working to make customers experience much more exciting.
	Spirits to Enlightenment TEAM: TUJ ONE Tokyo, Japan Synopsis: Monk Yoshinobu Fujioka has found a way to continue diffusing the ancient word of Buddha by bridging the gap between the sacred and the secular at his bar in Tokyo, Japan.
	Swank in B-flat TEAM: Ugly Muse San Francisco, CA USA Synopsis: A boy trumpeter who exemplifies the product of his supportive community through his street performance.
	The Audio-Gadgeteer TEAM: SocDoc13 Santa Cruz, CA USA Synopsis: A look into the life of a junkyard tinkerer.
	The Offerings TEAM: Hak Jee Ma Hong Kong, China Synopsis: Intimate portrait of effigy making and burning for departed ancestors in Hong Kong.
	Typecast Dragon TEAM: The Last Quest Seattle, WA USA Synopsis: One woman wrestles with her past public access fame as she transitions into her 40's and a new cycle in her life.
	Unsinkable TEAM: Squire Toronto, ON Canada Synopsis: Unsinkable goes on board a floating Toronto landmark and restaurant to reveal a charming old man with a lifelong passion for his boat, decades of selfless community service and an infectious joie de vivre.
	Venom & Fire TEAM: Freshmakers Cincinnati, OH USA Synopsis: An in depth look into the practices of a Signs Following Church.
